Summary of the Problem

How can we use social media to improve and bring life to the curriculum so that it is more relevant to the Palestinian youth?

  • There is a big gap between teachers and students
  • Lack of Training for teachers and students
  • Equipments problems( computer access for the students)
  • Need for digital materials for curriculum.


Proposed Solution

Using face book for making group for classrooms using special tools like the ability to upload pdf files, and online discussions upon the subjects studied in class. Using face book as a one platform for students and teachers to:

  1. Uploading curriculum on face book.
  2. Interacting with all the group members frequently
  3. Providing each student with a computer or a smart phone.
  4. Providing up-to-date courses about the new available technologies .
  5. Awareness sessions for parents about the use of social media in the learning process.

Technology to Solve the Problem

Smart mobile devices,

  • Social networks like facebook (groups)
  • Blackboards online website
  • Digital cameras to record the classes
  • Laptop for each student
  • Offline solutions:
  • Mobile SMS solutions (peer net: alerts and SMs, Souktel)
  • Calender apps
  • Polls

Steps:

  1. Focus groups of teachers and groups
  2. Training guide for both teachers and students on using social media techniques interactively.
  3. Downloading the curriculum online.
  4. Pilot testing for class rooms to see what is needed
  5. Pilot testing Mobile solutions
  6. Generalizing the experience if it was successful among other teachers
